Piñata Kits: Kiddie Candy Dilemma
Summary
On the face of it, this project was quite easy: build out 50 new piñata kits in a couple of days per the CEO’s request. But a roadblock lurked…
Challenges
On Day 2 during my QA, I noticed that the image for the Kiddie Candy did not match the product description — the piece count and weight were off. I queried the merchant to confirm which was incorrect. The copy was correct; the image was outdated.
The vendor could not supply the correct image until the end of the month.
Per system requirements for new SKUs, we had to upload the final images by our daily 2:45pm PST deadline in order for them to launch live the next day.
Outcomes
I created placeholder files with the correct file names and uploaded them prior to the 2:45pm deadline.
I checked online to see which stores in my area had the candy in stock and I picked up a bag. I photographed it at home and sent the file to my production artist, who quickly cleaned it up and dropped it into his kit images.
After a second QA, I approved final file upload in the late afternoon. After they were ingested, I manually purged each one to ensure that the placeholders were overwritten.
The kits went live on time the next day showing the correct product images.
